Claremore, We’ve Got Your Campfire Cones Recipe!

I like camping (in moderation. Like one night at a time). And we’ve been gathering up the nerve to take our 3-year-old with us this summer for the first time. We’ve also promised to take along our niece and nephew; I can’t decide if that will make things more fun or more difficult, or both. Of course, all of the camping spots are underwater at the moment, and it’s also 100 degrees outside, so it might be September before this adventure happens.

campfire-cones-5But I saw this recipe for Campfire Cones and I know it has to happen whenever the camping trip does.

Also, you don’t HAVE to be camping; you can also make these on the grill or in the oven if you don’t have a campfire handy.

Campfire Cones

Ingredients

Ice cream cone (Waffle would be best but any kind will do)

Aluminum foil

Toppings: chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, peanut butter, peanut butter chips, caramel chips, sliced bananas, sliced strawberries, anything you want!

How to

Fill the cone with your ingredients. The standard way would be to line the cone with peanut butter, then fill with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.

Wrap the whole cone tightly in aluminum foil.

Heat over campfire for 3-5 minutes, until ingredients are melted.

OR

Place on a heated grill for 5-10 minutes. Turn occasionally.

OR

Bake in a 350 oven for 5-7 minutes.

Have you made these? Were they delicious or a disaster? I’ll report back after I give them a whirl!
