Memorial service for Naomi J. (Sumter) Horton will be 2:00p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Naomi passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the age of 71.
Naomi Sumter Horton was born October 18, 1944 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Henry William Sumter, Sr. and Hazel Ida (Eagleton) Sumter. Naomi was the 11th child out of 12, (6 boys and 6 girls). She worke
d as a bookkeeper for Pixley Lumber Company for 17 years and as office manager for Rural Water District #5 for 15 years until she retired. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Naomi enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, playing board games, working puzzles and computer games in her free time.
Family members that survive include her children David Horton and wife Lea Ann, Darin Horton and wife Rhonda all of Claremore and Diana Horton of Pennsylvania; her brother Kenneth Sumter and wife Margaret; her sisters Mildred Fishback and Dorothy Bump all of Claremore; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
