Stronger Trees Flex

Flexibility is an important skill to have. In fact, it is one of the key skills, especially in the transition time. It’s weird, I don’t remember them teaching us that at school…Being adjustable, eager to learn new skills, and not being of afraid of the challenges ahead of me – all these things I learned from my mom, and they have served me well. Today I live in the moment when I have to tell myself every morning, “Don’t be afraid”. Every time I talk to my mom and dad or my sister on Skype, they constantly remind me to not be afraid to go for it and try. (I kind of did, 13 years ago when I decided to stay in a foreign country all alone, but that’s beside the point.)

What would I be so afraid of? Losing myself? Making a decision and not liking it later? Choosing a path and then realizing it was not what I expected? Becoming something I don’t want to?

Bruce Lee said: “Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.” I will survive this by learning new skills, mutating in a way, getting stronger…
I don’t have to change who I am to succeed, but I can learn more about what I am capable of!
