Claremore Art Show Opens This Week at RSU

The Rogers State University Department of Fine Arts is hosting an exhibition of works created by alumni. The RSU Alumni Art Show will run Thursday, Sept. 21, through October 27, at the Foundations Gallery located in Baird Hall at the Claremore Campus.

The opening reception begins at 5:00 p.m. with the RSU music department scheduled to have student musicians performing at the event.

The art show organizer, Blake Walinder is an RSU alumus and will have her art displayed at the exhibit. Other alumni in the art show are: Kalyn Barnoski, Michelle Bradsher, Sharleen Branch, Beth Brady-Edwards, Christine Hawk, Alex Horner, Brittany Kelley, Tanner Norwood, Addie Roanhorse, Preston Smith, Dylan Spaulding, Cecilia Villalobos, Panouqou Vue and Crystal Walters.

Following the conclusion of the Alumni Art exhibit, the Department of Fine Arts will host other exhibits during the fall semester, including the student capstone presentations on Nov. 10-24 and a one-week show and sale featuring student works on Nov. 29 to Dec. 6. Proceeds from the sales will go to the students with a small portion benefiting the studies-at-large program.

All events will be in the Foundations Gallery, which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free and open to the public.

RSU offers a bachelor of fine art in visual arts degree with options in graphic design, multimedia, photographic arts, or studio art, as well as an associate degree in liberal arts with an option in Native American studies. The department also offers minors in art, art history, graphic design, music, and Native American studies.
