You’re invited to attend an open house at Northeast Tech’s Pryor Campus

Northeast Tech student Travis Evans enlists the help of his auto service instructor, Alex Schmidt, in using a scan tool to diagnose an engine problem. The Auto Service Program at Northeast Tech’s Pryor Campus is one of the numerous programs that will be open for tours at next Thursday’s Open House event. Scheduled from 4-6 p.m., guests will enjoy refreshments, tour the facilities, meet the instructors, enroll and apply for financial aid.

In the weeks since Winter Break, the staff at Northeast Tech’s Pryor Campus have been preparing for an open house event scheduled for next Thursday, Jan. 25. The event is designed to give the community a better understanding of the many programs available at Northeast Tech by allowing potential students the opportunity to explore the campus before enrollment begins.

“It’s so important for potential students to get a visual of the possibilities Northeast Tech has to offer them,” said Northeast Tech Student Advisor Taylar Odle. “Today’s students are more visual than ever, and we want to create an opportunity for them to see our programs and imagine themselves here as students in the fall.”

Northeast Tech serves a wide audience, but this event is designed specifically for high school students and their families.

“Enrollment for the fall semester takes place in the spring, and the sooner students can submit their applications the better their chances of acceptance,” Odle said. “We continue to see an increase in the number of enrollment applications we receive each year, and while we take as many students as we can safely accommodate, the rolls do fill up quite quickly.”

Northeast Tech’s Open House will take place from 4 -6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. Guests will be able to enjoy refreshments, tour the facilities, meet the instructors, enroll and apply for financial aid.

Debbie Hendrix is one of the instructors for the Health Careers program, and her favorite part of the Open House event is chatting with the parents who attend.

“I want to let them know what we have to offer, what their student will learn and how we teach the material,” Hendrix said. “I also want to show them the equipment we use in the classroom, because this is the same equipment their student will be using in the industry.”

Campus Director Paul Hocutt is new to the Pryor Campus, but after spending more than 30 years in education, he’s no stranger to the importance of an open house when it comes to student success.

“The unknown can be a scary thing to face down, and we don’t want fear of the unknown to be a barrier to enrollment,” said Hocutt. “We want to do our best to remove barriers, and this event is one of the ways we’re doing that. It’s an open invitation to tour our facilities, meet our staff and find out why enrolling at Northeast Tech could be the best decision for your future.”
