Summer Reading Kicks Off at Claremore Library

“Libraries Rock” is the theme for the Summer Reading Program at the Will Rogers Library. Sign up begins June 1st and the program is ongoing through the end of July. There is something for all readers from birth to 17! Check out our website www.willrogerslibrary.org for more information!

To kick off the program, we have a few music-themed books to feature this month. Chicken Dance by Oklahoma author Tammi Sauer is a tale of two chickens on a mission to win the barnyard talent show and two tickets to see Elvis Poultry in concert! This fun book has beautiful, cartoon-like illustrations. It can be found in the early reader section of the Will Rogers Library. For chapter book readers, Face The Music by Julie Bowie is a part of the Victoria Torres series. Victoria and her best friend Bea both play flute in the middle school band. But the band needs a piccolo player and both girls want to try out to do it. Will they still be friends after the tryout? Face The Music can be found in the Juvenile section of the Will Rogers Library.

The Will Rogers Library has a good selection of biographies written for younger readers. These are found on the back wall in the juvenile area of the library. Young Mozart by Rachel Isadora is a lovely introduction to the life of this famous composer. It also includes lovely illustrations. On the other end of the musical spectrum you can find Taylor Swift, part of a young readers’ Celebrity Biographies series. This book features fun facts and concert photos.

We look forward to seeing everyone this summer at the Will Rogers Library.
