Claremore’s Reveille Rotary will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 30, 2018. “Rotary is Service Above Self,” said Tanya Andrews Club President. “Reveille, in my eyes, has lived up to Rotary International’s motto and gone above and beyond to serve our communities.”
In a bold move, Reveille Rotary decided to celebrate by announcing 20-4-20; 20 projects for their 20th anniversary. “Our club has been involved in numerous projects over the years, but this year we have added a few new activities which allows us to provide additional services to even more organizations”, said Andrews. One new activity was to assist in The Zone for Teens. This is a new event at the Claremore Community Center that provides entertainment and activities for kids 13-18 years old. The Zone is open to any teenager and allows them a safe place to hang out with kids their age. Our club was happy to help the launch by providing $1,000 for seed money to help get the program started. Additionally, we are looking forward to chaperoning at an upcoming event.”
Reveille Rotary also partnered with the Claremore Chamber and Main Street to sponsor the Non-profit Leadership Award at the Leading Ladies Gala. “Years ago, Rotary was “just for men” and that is so not the case these days. Women make a large impression on today’s Rotary and we want ladies in our area to know they are welcome, anytime,” said Jeanne Heidlage, Treasurer. “Women play a significant part in Rotary leadership today from the club level to district, to international”.
New projects this year also include Clothes for Claremont, partnering with RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy), partnering with the Claremore Rotary (the noon club) as well as the Claremore Chamber and moreClaremore to produce the Claremore Christmas Parade. There are projects the club has been involved in for several years such as their dictionary program, providing a new dictionary to every third grader in Rogers County. “Our club’s Scholarship Program continues to assist four or five Rogers County high school seniors in attending the college of their choice,” said Dr. Richard Mosier, one of Reveille Rotary’s Founding Members. “We support education from Pre-K up, and want to provide assistance to those students who might need a little extra help getting to college.”
“Toys For Tots, Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, Donuts and Discussion at the Oklahoma Veterans Center-Claremore, volunteering and partnering at Claremore’s West Bend Winterland, as well as volunteering at the Medical Supply Network, are just a few more activities we are involved in,” said Andrews. “As a Rotarian, I am extremely proud that our club may be one of the smaller Rotary clubs in the area, but we are extremely active and are always glad to lend a hand where we can.”
