SUMMARY:Rogers County Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Rogers County Fair returns to the Claremore Expo Center September 17-20. Of course\, the fair will look a bit different this year\, but the fair board is determined to keep things on track for all of the hardworking kids who have been preparing for the livestock arena and 4-H presentations over the course of the past year. \nThe fair will kick off on Thursday\, September 17\, with the fireworks show. \nLivestock will still be shown\, but not all of the animals will be in the barn at the same time for the duration. For example\, all swine will be shown on one day\, all cattle on another day\, etc. There will be no rabbit show this year at all\, due to another virus that is affecting rabbits. \nThe indoor hall will still be open\, but vendors will be limited\, and items sold will be primarily Made in Oklahoma products. And don’t worry\, you can still see the giant pumpkins! \nThe carnival will still be open with rides and games. Carnival employees will wear masks and have temperatures checked before each shift. Riders will be seated in every other row. \nThe kids zone will be open\, but with limited activities to prevent germs. Little ones can still enjoy fun entertainment\, like the bubble show! \nCirque Adventure is a new attraction this year. It’s a high-flying circus act which is guaranteed to wow spectators! \nThe fair poster is always a popular souvenir! You can pick up yours at the Claremore Expo for just $10. \nAs with everything else\, the fair board is committed to following CDC guidelines and making our fair as safe as possible. Additionally\, they are working to remain fluid in this uncertain time. Visit RogersCountyFair.com for the latest updates. \nSee you at the fair!

SUMMARY:Night at the Movies
DESCRIPTION:Although Will Rogers never appeared in a movie with Shirley Temple\, he knew the little girl. They shared the prestige of being the top movie stars in 1934-35. In keeping with the theme of Will Rogers and Will Rogers-era movies\, February Night at the Movies at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum on Feb. 28 will feature Shirley Temple and Will’s friend Joel McCrea in Our Little Girl. \nMuseum doors open at 6:30 p.m.\, the movie starts at 7. Admission is free and popcorn\, drinks\, and refreshments are provided by Bank of Commerce. \nOur Little Girl is a 1935 American drama\, released shortly before Will Rogers’ death in an Alaska plane crash. The film was the final work of the veteran director\, John S. Robertson\, as well as the final work of actress Rosemary Ames. \nShirley Temple plays Molly Middleton\, daughter of Dr. Donald Middleton (McCrea)\, a busy doctor. He was so busy it led to the parting of Molly’s parents. In her way of reuniting her parents\, she ran away from home. \nJoel McCrea\, who played opposite Will in Lightnin’ and Business and Pleasure\, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival in 2019.

SUMMARY:Family Day at the Ranch
DESCRIPTION:When the wind comes sweeping down the plains Saturday\, kite flyers will take advantage of the breeze that sweeps across the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch. \nFamily Day at the Ranch\, also a celebration of September’s Grandparents Day\, will be Saturday\, September 14\, 1-3 p.m. (Kite flyers are expected at 11 a.m.). There will be small kites for sale at $5 each or participants can bring their own. \nGrandparents Day is special for Family Day since it has become a tradition for many of the senior population to bring their grandchildren to the Ranch on this day to share their own experiences as children and to visit the house where Will Rogers was born Nov. 4\, 1879. \nFamily Day is open to anyone. Admission to the Birthplace Ranch\, 9501 E. 380 Road\, Oologah\, is free (donations accepted). \n  \n

Competition runs will be first-come\, first-served\, and we will only be able to run as many competitors as time allows. Registration/guaranteed course runs will not be possible.\nThe idea for this event was sparked through conversation between Jared Greer & Jon Stem. Jared Greer is a 3-time American Ninja Warrior competitor and is the founder of a non-profit called Overcoming Obstacles. Jon Stem is a 2-time American Ninja Warrior competitor and is the youth pastor at Claremore Assembly of God.\n\n\nJared & Sally Greer\n\n\nJared Greer\, Nate Burkhalter\, & Jon Stem\n\n\nJon Stem\n\n\nThe goal of this event is to bring the Ninja Warrior experience to Claremore through a fun & challenge obstacle course\, to bring the community together\, and to share a message of hope\, faith\, and perseverance in the face of obstacles!\nWe hope that you’ll join us for this exciting event and help us spread the word to your family and friends! See you on the course!\nPlease Click Here if you’d like to download and fill out the participation waiver ahead of time and bring it with you to the event.
