Last Saturday, the Claremore Museum of History hosted a SOLD OUT event honoring Judy Smith Eagleton, and unveiling the Cadet Grill exhibit, named for her parent’s iconic 1950′s downtown cafe.
“Her endless pursuit of knowledge, vast collection of artifacts and photographs, enthusiasm, hard work, willingness to share and her love of Claremore,” continue to be the inspiration to those behind the scenes at the museum.
The “Fifties Flashback” event kicked off at 6:00 p.m., and the juke box was a rockin’! Wayne “Shorty” Dunlap loaned several model cars, Elvis memorabilia and an Americana III Wurlitzer Juke Box.
This shiny red and white 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, provided by Donna Froman, was parked out front and provided a perfect photo opp as guests arrived. Donna’s son, Cary Froman, wasn’t shy about asking folks to hop in for a quick photo. “Just don’t touch the paint!”
The event included a silent auction with 40 unique items from local vendors and businesses.
The Hammett House catered a “Brown Derby” dinner to the 130 guests, and the Spirits of 66 provided beverages to wet their whistles. A Live Auction followed dinner, and some of the highest bid items included a private guided hunt for two at the Robson Ranch and a Night Out with Sheriff Scott Walton!
THIS JUST IN! We spoke with one of the co-chairs today and we are thrilled to hear that the evening raised over $60,000.00!
This is an incredible boost in momentum for the museum. The generous support of those who donated items for auction, purchased event tickets, and the following event sponsors, will allow the museum to proceed with the History of Claremore Exhibit.
