January 20 is National Cheese Lovers Day. Um, yum. Cheese is delicious all the time, not just on January 20! We’ve rounded up some of the most popular cheesy recipes from each state (only the ones that sound really good).

New Hampshire: Lobster Mac and Cheese
If you love lobster and love mac, AND cheese, this is heaven on a plate.

Kentucky: Hot Brown Bites
The Derby. Bourbon. Mint juleps. Hot brown bites. Didn’t catch that last one? It’s a Kentucky original created at The Brown Hotel in the 1920s. It’s basically an open-faced turkey sandwich with bacon and a Mornay sauce (that means melted, delicious cheese sauce in French). This miniature version from Plain Chicken makes a great party appetizer and does the Bluegrass State proud.

Oklahoma: Cheese Stuffed Fried Okra
Honestly, this one kind of peeved me. First of all, I’ve lived in Oklahoma since I was two years old and I’ve never heard of stuffed fried okra. The same goes for the rest of my officemates. And even worse, the recipe that accompanies this? From a Texas blogger. Come on, now. But I’m sure it’s delicious.

Hawaii: Hawaiian Grilled Cheese
I’m a sucker for Hawaiian bread AND grilled cheese (or ‘boy cheese’ as we call them at my house), so this is awesome. They sound similar to Funeral Sandwiches, minus the pineapple (which I could totally do without).

Kansas: Kansas City Dirt Cake
My pregnancy craving was frozen Oreos. I can, and do, eat cream cheese on just about anything. I feel like this recipe is saying, “Here, Ashley, this is for you.”

Iowa: Cheesy Corn Chowder
Soup is perfect for this kind of cold, crummy weather. This one has potatoes, a few veggies, and lots of cheesy goodness. And it doesn’t take that long to make. You could make it tonight.

Idaho: Idaho Sunrise
We tend to have a shortage of breakfast meat at our house, so my weekend breakfast go-to is generally a fried potato scrambler concoction. This sounds both delicious and easy. Also a nice change from the potato scrambler.

North Carolina: Garlic and Herb Cheese Bombs
These just require refrigerated biscuits and cheese. Done and done. They look simple and yummy fabulous.

Alabama: Cheesy Grits and Sausage Casserole
I adore grits. I usually only eat them when I’m at Waffle House, so that’s not that often. I have never made them at home, because I have no idea how to do that. But this sounds like a hearty, easy breakfast!

Nebraska: Cheese Frenchees
This is pretty much a fried grilled cheese sandwich, made famous by a Nebraska diner. Yes, please.

South Carolina: Spicy Shrimp and Cheesy Grits
Uh-oh, it’s another grits recipe! I definitely need to try this.
