Leadership Rogers County Class of 2017 took a road trip to the State Capitol recently. The class is comprised of professional individuals who either work or live within Rogers County. The group enjoyed a tour of the building, and was introduced on both the House and Senate floors.

During a barbecue lunch presented by Earl’s Rib Palace, the class was able to visit with various legislators from the area.

Leadership Rogers County has been active in town since 1991, when it began as Leadership Claremore. Now it serves residents of the entire county. It is operated by a board of directors and an executive director.

Applications are accepted over the summer and the first session is held in September, which is a Friday/Saturday. After that, the class meets the second Wednesday of each month from October – April. The trip to the Capitol is the culmination of the class meetings. A golf tournament held at the end of April will raise funds for the class’s service project. This year, Volunteers for Youth has been chosen as the beneficiary. A graduation ceremony is then held in May.
