Apply Now for Leadership Rogers County: It’s FUN!

Three summers ago, my boss mentioned to me that I should apply for Leadership Rogers County. I’d never heard of it, and was a little unsure of what she was asking me to do. But I dutifully visited LeadershipRogersCounty.org and filled out an application. (Which wasn’t difficult. No curveballs or 500-word essays required, I promise.)

I attended class on the first session in September 2014. I knew only two other students, which surprised me, since I’ve lived in Claremore most of my life. The first session is two days, and is held on a Friday and Saturday. Day one is primarily team-building exercises, that even to someone as introverted as me, were a lot of fun. The program is designed to teach you how to work with others and get along with different personalities without even realizing you’re learning. The second day is held at the RSU Hilltop Challenge Course.

After the first two days, the class meets on the second Wednesday of each month, October – April. The course consists of a lot of fun field trips around Rogers County, as well as a strong leadership component.

After taking the course in 2014, I was asked to take over as executive director, which I have done for the past two years. I’m here to tell you that although you may not have heard of it, Leadership has been a part of Rogers County and Claremore for 25 years! I guarantee that it’s a lot of fun, and you’ll make new friendships that will last a lifetime. I can’t count how many new people I’ve met through the program, so it’s ideal for networking, too.

Tuition for the class is $400 and includes everything you’d need over the sessions. Primarily the tuition is paid by an employer, but we have several self-employed folks and individuals who have taken the class and paid for themselves. It’s well worth the investment into yourself, your business, and your future.

In addition, the program offers a scholarship to one area senior high school student and one area college student. If you fall into this category or have a child who does, please encourage him or her to apply.

For more information, please feel free to send me a facebook message or an email to ashley@moreclaremore.com. I’m happy to help!

Applications are being accepted now online at leadershiprogerscounty.org. Deadline for applications is August 24.
