Former RSU Coach Named Naismith Finalist

Former RSU women’s basketball head coach Amy Williams is making waves on the plains of Nebraska. Williams coached the RSU Hillcats in their inaugural season back in 2007. Williams posted a resume of six seasons and a 97-65 (.599) overall record. As the first and longest term head coach to date, she holds the record for most wins in the young program’s history.

She would remain on the Hill until 2012, when her former home state of South Dakota came calling. Williams became the head coach at the University of South Dakota and led the Coyotes to four seasons of postseason play. As a Coyote, Williams would win a WNIT Championship and post a 32-6 overall record. She was named Summit League Coach of the Year twice!

In 2017 she took the helm at her alma mater, the University of Nebraska. Williams has helped turn the program around improving their record from last season at 8-22, to this season’s 20-9. She has been named the Big 10 Coach of the year and is a finalist for the Naismith National Coach-of-the-Year Award

We want to wish her luck in the postseason and on all future endeavors! #HillcatForLife #HillcatNation
