How to be a Senior Companion in the Claremore Area

The word needs to get out to all our Seniors! Senior Companions serve one-on-one with seniors who have difficulty completing everyday tasks, need transportation to shop, doctor’s appointments, barber shop/beauty shop or maybe a friend to go to lunch with!  Also, Companions provide respite care to caregivers – all at no cost to our clients.

To receive free assistance:  Must be 60 and over – Live in Rogers, Craig, or Ottawa Counties – Need assistance on a weekly basis.

Because of this program, thousands of citizens are able to live with dignity in their own homes.

Anyone wishing to become a volunteer doesn’t need medical or technical skills to be a Senior Companion.  All they need to know is how to be a friend. Senior Companions offer adults contact with the world outside of their homes and make their lives less lonely.  Along the way, Senior Companions find out that few things feel as good as knowing you are needed.

For their service, Companions receive $2.65 an hour (tax free stipend), reimbursement for transportation (.50 per mile), annual physical exams, and accident and liability insurance during their terms of service.
