Katie Jo Moseley, senior goal keeper for Claremore High School, is a stand out on and off the field.
Moseley has spent nine years on the soccer field and has learned many life lessons throughout the many years on being on a team.
“My favorite part about soccer is working out and pushing my teammates to the fullest,” Moseley said. “The bond that is created when you see your teammate push through the pain with you and to know that they want to get better just as much as you do is amazing. The best feeling in the world is when our hard work pays off.”
Moseley has pushed herself on the soccer field and in the classroom many awards throughout her high school soccer career including; Soccer All Stater, Soccer Varsity Player’s Player for three years in a row, Soccer Most Improved Player, 2016 5A Soccer State Champion, 2016 5A Volleyball Academic State Champion, Football Homecoming Queen, Senior Class President, Student of the Month, Oklahoma Girls State, Page for the House of Representatives and Valedictorian.
Being an athlete in high school has helped shape Moseley who she is today.
“High school sports have brought me the greatest memories and friendships that will last a lifetime,” Moseley said. “I loved getting to play a sport I am very passionate about with my friends. The best times were at practice playing games and just being hooligans.”
Aside from soccer, Moseley says that her mom has been her biggest influencer.
“My mother has had a huge influence on my life. She herself was a hard-working athlete, and I strive to be like her. She has taught me to work hard for what I want, and it will pay off,” Moseley said.
Moseley is leaving high school taking away something that only being part of a team can teach you.
“Never give up, even when the outcome is not want you had hoped for, is something soccer has taught me that I will carry with me through life,” Moseley said.
After graduation, Moseley will attend Coffeyville Community College on a soccer scholarship and plans on majoring in Business Administration.
