We are blessed in Rogers County to have many non-profit organizations to help residents with just about anything they need. From Rogers County Youth Services and Light of Hope to Safenet and Habitat for Humanity, services abound in Claremore. One organization that you may not be familiar with is CREOKS Behavioral Health Services.
CREOKS provides comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services to individuals and families to facilitate recovery and healthy family lifestyles.
Located south of town at 24797 S. Hwy. 66, CREOKS Claremore has a client base of about 300, including children and adults. Counseling is offered to help with adjustment issues, ADHD, oppositional defiance, schizophrenia, and substance abuse. One thing that sets CREOKS apart is that the client can choose where the counseling sessions take place, whether it’s at home, school, or the CREOKS clinic.
Additionally, the case managers help connect clients to community resources. They work with families, teaching them how to apply for food stamps, or helping them access the food bank. They also help parents on the education front, helping to explain education laws and attending IEP meetings.
Currently, CREOKS accepts SoonerCare patients only. Assistant Site Director Jeremy Aragon is working to get Medicare and private insurance, as well. He also has several expansion plans in mind; he’d like to expand their food closet to a full pantry, add laundry services for those who need it, and offer both parenting and anger management classes. He’d also like to eventually add classes that teach independent living skills aimed at those aging out of foster care.The CREOKS organization has 23 clinics across the state. The Claremore facility is in an ideal location, because it’s easily accessible by several other communities. Claremore has 28 people on staff (primarily therapists and case managers), and they are really looking to get involved in the community. They have planned several events for the summer, including first responder cookouts, which will be a way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of our local police and fire personnel. CREOKS is partnering with RSU student organizations, Swan Bros. Dairy, and Reasor’s to make sure these events are successful. There is also a formal gala benefit in the works for October.
