RSU Men’s Soccer Has Four Named To United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Team

The Rogers State Men’s Soccer program had four players named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Team, announced the coaches association on Monday.

Jake Simpson, Noah Robson, Michael Turner, and Dillon Dean were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Team, which had 11 players total named to the list. Rogers State led in first team selections for the region with four.

Simpson led the team in goals (14) and assists (8) this season and was named to the team as a forward. The Cambridge, England native set the school record for goals and points (36) in a season and finished one assist shy of Robson’s school record from last season. Simpson was also named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA last week.

Simpson, who was named the conference Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, was first in the GAC/MIAA, as well as first in the region in assists and points. He was second in the GAC/MIAA and second in the region in goals. He ranked in the top 20 in all three categories in the NCAA during the regular season.

Robson was named to the team as a midfielder. Robson finished the season tied for second in goals (6) for the Hillcats, including a goal in the championship game, and was also second on team in assists (6). The senior led the team in game-winning goals with three and was second on the team in total points.

Turner was named to the team as a defender. He was a key part of the defense for Rogers State that recorded nine shutouts this season, including seven in conference play and one in the conference tournament. Turner played 1767 minutes, second most for Rogers State. Turner was twice named the conference Defensive Player of the Week this season.

Dean was named the all-region goalkeeper. Dean set the school record for goals against average (.42). His .867 save percentage was second all-time. The Mustang, Oklahoma native had five shutouts and two shared shutouts this season and had a streak of 455 minutes and 49 seconds without allowing a goal. Dean has won three straight conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors to close the season.

All four players were named to the D2CCAA All-Region team last month.

The teams are selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions. By selection to the All-Central Region team, all four Hillcats are now eligible to earn All-America status.

The All-America Teams for NCAA Division II will be announced on Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, in conjunction with the pre-championship banquet.
