Virtual ZipperQ Raises More than $26K for FOP Research

Thanks to CDC restrictions, ZipperQ, our favorite family-friendly barbecue throwdown, was all virtual this year. Held on Saturday, October 3, FOP supporters still fired up their smokers wherever they were, and celebrated finding a cure for Zip Gordon. Many teams chose a group to donate the food to, including first responder units and non-profit organizations.

Being virtual meant that there was no limit on teams. And with that being said, between sponsorships and donations, ZipperQ still raised over $26,000 for the IFOPA to continue research on this incredibly rare disease.

Zip’s mom, Amy, said, “While this year’s ZipperQ event looked very different from the years past, the support of Claremore and the ZipperQ community never cease to amaze me. If you didn’t get a chance to participate, donations are still being accepted at ZipperQ.com. The Gordon family extends our sincerest thanks for all of the support.”

Hopefully next year, we will be back (in person) at the Expo Center on the first Saturday in October, visiting with friends while the scents of smoked meats waft through the air. We’ll listen to music, cheer for the dunk tank, play some cornhole, taste all the food, and wash it down with a cold beer.

We’ll see you next year!
