Celebrate the Holidays with the Claremore Library

December is a great time to snuggle up and enjoy some good books! At the Will Rogers Library, we have lots of fun holiday books, as well as holiday-themed cake pans and cookie cutters available for check out. Due to increasing COVID-19 numbers, the library is currently offering contactless/curbside check out only. It’s easy to do and you can check out up to 10 items per card! Please give us a call at 918-341-1564 or check our website at willrogerslibrary.org for more information. We also have a digital library which can be accessed using your library card and the Libby or Overdrive app on any device you read with such as a smartphone, tablet or computer. You can find directions for getting started on our website as well. We’re happy to help you with your holiday reading.

A fun choice for young readers is any of Jan Brett’s lovely winter-themed books. Some of the titles we have are The Wild Christmas Reindeer, Home for Christmas, Christmas Trolls, and The Animal’s Santa. All are beautifully illustrated stories set in wintery wonderlands. Jan Brett is both author and illustrator of these books and the illustrations are a feast for your eyes. Children love to search the margins of each page for clues as to what’s coming next in the story. These books can be found in the Early Reader/Christmas section of the library and are available for curbside check out.

Another fun choice is Santa’s Short Suit Shrunk and Other Christmas Tongue Twisters by Nola Buck with pictures by Sue Truesdell. Every page features a silly tongue twister. If you can say “Sarah says she’s sure she saw Santa” three times, this is the book for you! Or even if you can’t, but want to try! This book is also An I Can Read Book which means it’s appropriate for beginning readers. It can be found in the Early Readers section of the library and is also available for curbside checkout.

Our library also has children’s cookbooks, books about traditions in other countries, and many holiday storybooks. In addition, we are offering small craft projects monthly for pick up. You can view these on our website as well.

All of us at the Will Rogers Library wish you and your family Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We look forward to serving you in the new year.
