RSU Hosts Virtual Claremont Elementary Day with Hillcat Basketball

Rogers State University, along with RCB Bank, hosted its annual Claremont Elementary Day with Hillcat Basketball on Thursday, December 17, holding the event in a virtual format.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Claremont Day was hosted virtually this year. In previous years, Claremont Elementary students attended a weekday men’s basketball game as a field trip during normal school hours. The event is full of educational activities surrounding a basketball game.

This year, with basketball schedules fixed and no flexibility in schedules, the elementary students watched a replay of men’s basketball’s win at Pittsburg State earlier this season. The game was streamed in virtually in the classrooms at Claremont to keep everyone safe and streamed on demand in a condensed format with commercials removed.

“We are so thankful for our partnership with Claremont Elementary and RCB Bank,” said Sara Braun, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. “Even though Claremont Elementary Day with Hillcat Basketball looked a little different this year, it was successful, fun filled day. Thank you to all of our campus partners and RCB Bank for making it happen.”

Every Claremont student also received a Hunter the Hillcat poster and activity book that they could work on during and after the game. Students also received a visit from Hunter the Hillcat.

Just like previous years, the event also featured snacks for each student, as well as prizes. The snacks were provided by RCB Bank and prizes and giveaways were provided by RSU Enrollment Management and the RSU Foundation. RCB Bank also gave away two grand prizes and teacher prizes.
