Ne-Mar Center in Claremore is excited to announce Burkes Outlet, a discount apparel and home goods retailer, will be opening an 18,240 square foot store in the former Stage location. The building is currently being renovated and the opening is planned for early May 2021.
Burkes Outlet is new to Oklahoma but has more than 400 stores in other states. New stores have recently opened in Ardmore, Bartlesville, Chickasha, and Muskogee. Similar to T J Maxx and Marshall’s, clothing, shoes, bed and bath, home décor, fragrance and beauty products will be offered at deep discounts.
Ne-Mar managing partner Steve Neely says, “We feel very fortunate to add Burke’s Outlet to our growing tenant mix at Ne-Mar Center. They will be a great addition to our center, as well as to Claremore and the surrounding area.”
Locally owned Ne-Mar Center opened in 1967 and this will be the fifth business to occupy this site. Humpty Dumpty Grocery and Levine’s Department Store were the original tenants in this section of the center. C. R. Anthony’s Clothing followed in 1977, and Stage Department Store occupied the space from 1997 until the entire chain folded in August of 2020.
Neely also says, “It has been a difficult transition from our former anchor tenants, Stage and J C Penney, both of whom closed their Ne-Mar locations, in recent years, even though the Claremore stores were always profitable. Harbor Freight, which opened in the former Penney’s location in May 2020, has been very well received in the community. We are sure that Burkes Outlet will be just as successful. We hope Rogers County folks shop at home as local retail positively impacts jobs and tax dollars for our town and county.”
