Golfers on the 14th hole at Heritage Hills can now rest easy! Claremore Fire Local 1077 has placed a fire hydrant and bell in honor of the late CFD Captain Jason Farley. Golfers can now ring the bell when they clear the area, so the next players know that it is safe to proceed. And bonus tip: Jason Farley won longest drive on this exact hole in a tournament once upon a time.
It’s more than just a safety item; the bell is truly a labor of love. The hydrant was donated by retired Claremore firefighter Clarence Driver. The hydrant was sandblasted by Collinsville firefighter Mike Percival of American Media Blasting. Mike Parham of Hot Rod Powder Coating handled the powder coating. Parham is a Tulsa firefighter. Brian O’Dell and Mike O’Dell of Blue Arc Metal Specialties did the final assembly of bell and hydrant.
The bell and hydrant will be officially placed on Saturday, just in time for the Jason Farley Memorial golf tournament.
