Claremore Police Department is hosting the 13th annual Citizens Police Academy starting February 22. This is a fun and informative way to learn about the daily life of a police officer. The goal of the Citizen’s Academy is to educate the public and provide a better understanding of how our Police Department functions and operates. Instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, tours and hands-on training. The hands-on portion of the classes include traffic investigation and enforcement, firearms training and patrol procedures.
The class runs for 11 weeks, meeting each Tuesday evening from 6:30p – 9:30p. The class is FREE! Participants must be at least 21 years old and pass a background check. You even get to do a ride-along upon completion of the course and maybe eat tacos with the cops (see below).
