Things to Do in Claremore this July

Summer is in full swing and this month we celebrate our independence! The City of Claremore will host the annual Fourth of July Celebration at Claremore Lake on Saturday, July 2nd. In order to prepare for the festivities, Claremore Lake Park will close on Thursday, June 30th at 10 p.m.

To kick off the Fourth of July activities, the Claremore Lake Park will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd for entry into the Kid’s Fishing Derby only. From 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., kids aged 4 years – 12 years can participate in the annual Fishing Derby. Weigh-in will be at 10 a.m. and there will be trophies for Biggest and Smallest fish in each age division, and an overall Biggest and Smallest fish. A raffle will also be held and some lucky participant will win a bike! The Claremore Lake Park will then close at 11 a.m. to prepare further for the evening events.

Starting at 6 p.m., patrons can begin to enter Claremore Lake Park for the evening events. They will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the National Anthem and Raising of the Flag by Claremore Fire Department. There will be limited concessions with proceeds benefitting local Boy Scout packs. Music will be provided by a D.J. and there will be plenty to do while waiting for the show! Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. There is only limited handicap and motorcycle parking inside the park. Other attendees can use free parking at Stampede Park adjacent to Claremore Lake Park. A shuttle service will be provided.

The Rogers County Farmers Market is still going strong in the month of July. Every Saturday, local farmers and entrepreneurs will be set up in the parking lot of the Rogers County Courthouse from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. If your Saturdays are too busy, you have another opportunity on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Catoosa at the Blue Whale.

A brand-new and exciting event for those of you who are 21 and over is also coming up this month! The Claremore Collective will host Collective’s Cups Up on Saturday, July 16th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This beer tasting event will be held in Lynn Riggs Park (Gazebo Park) and include beer samples from local breweries along with live music! Tickets are limited so purchase yours today at Spirits of 66, Buffalo Wild Wings-Claremore location, Claremore Chamber, or online at The Claremore Chamber of Commerce. Two food trucks will be on site with dinner available for purchase.

Visit the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch on Saturday, July 16th for Will’s Cowboy Trader Days and Family Day! Starting at 10 a.m., local craftsmen and artisans will be on site with handmade and handcrafted items to sell. Enjoy some time on the beautiful ranch and take in the amazing scenery! At 1 p.m., the Lace Maker’s Guild of Oklahoma will be the focus of Family Day. Admission is free and there will be plenty of activities for the whole family! Downtown Claremore will be bustling with food trucks and activities on July 28th for Food Truck Thursday. This month will be all about the Corporate Olympics! Company teams will compete in various activities to earn the title of Corporate Olympic Champions. Come out and cheer on your company team and enjoy some food! Don’t forget to stop into some of our local shops while you are downtown.

We know it is hot in July, so if you are looking for something to do indoors, we have a few options. The Claremore Indoor Flea Market will take place on Saturday, July 23rd at the Claremore Expo Center. There will be a variety of vendors selling handmade jewelry, antique glassware, housewares, furniture, and so much more. The Will Rogers Memorial Museum is a great option for indoor activities during the summer months. On July 8th, kids 5 years old to 12 years old can enjoy “A Night at the Museum”. This exciting event will take you back to the pioneer days of the 1800s! At least one adult per family is required to stay as well. The overnight adventure will begin at 6 p.m. on July 8th and end at 9 a.m. on the 9th.

On July 21st, the Will Rogers Memorial Museum will host their monthly Learning Lecture. This month they will feature Anne Davis. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Another monthly favorite at the Museum is Movie Night! On Thursday July 29th join us at the Will Rogers Memorial for “Where the Red Fern Grows”. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be activities and crafts. The movie will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free and drinks and popcorn will be provided courtesy of Bank of Commerce.
