August in Claremore is Full of Family Fun!

Claremore has some fun events happening around town in August before the first day school bell rings and throughout the month. From National Night Out to a 21 and over 80s Prom fundraiser, we have something for everyone!

On Tuesday, August 2nd, the Claremore Police Department, along with Volunteers for Youth and the Healthy Community Partners, will be hosting the Back to School Bash at National Night Out. This family event will take place at the Claremore Lake Park from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. There will be several family-friendly activities and many local organizations will be on hand with free school supplies and family resource information! For more information please click HERE. 

On August 6th, the 2 Hip Chicks Roadshow returns to the Claremore Expo Center. Ladies, this is the perfect time to come and shop in 30,000 square feet of indoor, air-conditioned space. From 9am to 4pm, shop for the repurposed, chippy, rusty, boutiques, farmhouse, kids’ boutiques, decor, and so much more!

The Claremore Expo Center will host the Hunter Jumper SummerFest II August 6th and 7th. The divisions in which the show participants compete is simply amazing. Then August 20th and 21st, the Expo Center welcomes the Oklahoma Buckskin Horse Association’s Show, a popular event with ABRA classes, as well as all breed classes.

Historic Downtown Claremore is home to the famous Food Truck Thursdays, which typically runs from May through October. August’s event will be August 18th and is themed Back to School. From 6pm – 9pm, you can come out and enjoy food trucks, entertainment, children’s activities and shopping!

The annual Will Rogers-Wiley Post Fly-In is August 13th at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch. It starts at 7:30am and will feature approximately100 planes flying in to join in the fun. There will be food trucks, classic cars and activities for the entire family. The pilots welcome folks to come for an up-close look at the planes, ask questions and enjoy the Fly-In; it is free!

Back for a second year is the United Way of Rogers and Mayes Counties 80s Prom! Big hair,

mullets, and 80s attire are strongly encouraged but not required. This 21 and over event will be held at the Claremore VFW on August 20th starting at 7pm. Get your tickets early by clicking HERE. 

To finish out August, the Will Rogers Memorial Museum will host their monthly Movie Night at the Museum on August 26th! This month’s featured film is The Will Rogers Story, starring Will Rogers, Jr. Doors open at 6pm; plenty of time to enjoy the pre-movie activities and get your complimentary popcorn before the 7pm show. Complimentary admission thanks to one of the museum’s great partners, Bank of Commerce!

Don’t forget about the Rogers County Farmer’s Market, which is every Saturday in the parking lot of the Rogers County Court House from 7am to 11am. On Wednesdays, they also set up in Catoosa at the Blue Whale from 5pm to 8pm.
