Things You Wanted to Know About Oklahoma Pizza Company

After months of supply chain issues and construction, Oklahoma Pizza Company in downtown Claremore will officially open to the public on Tuesday, August 2! Owners Sarah and Chris Hayes (they also own J Farley’s Pub) are excited to share their newest concept with the citizens of Claremore.

Oklahoma Pizza Company is focusing on fast, friendly service, and fast, delicious pizza, served in under two minutes. That’s right, LESS THAN TWO MINUTES. Chris first got the idea when he was in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and he wanted to have lunch at Old Chicago Pizza; unfortunately, the location was no longer in business. Since he was already in the mood for pizza, he did a quick Google search and stumbled across Blaze Pizza, which is like “Subway for pizzas.” Cooking time was about seven minutes, and Chris just knew he could come up with a faster way. He discovered TurboChef ovens, and his brain went into overdrive.

Meanwhile, Emily and Landon Dean of Claremore had purchased the Red Rock building in downtown Claremore, and they were interested in a pizza shop. The Deans approached the Hayes’ and that was that!

We got to have a sneak peek at Oklahoma Pizza Company last week, and the concept is, indeed, similar to Subway. Patrons go through the line and you can see all of the fresh ingredients available. All pizzas are 10″ in size. You can build your own pizza with a variety of toppings, including meats, veggies, sauces, and cheeses, or you can choose one of the specialty pizzas, like the Thin Red Line (a nod to Chris’ career as a firefighter). Two of the most popular items have been Back the Blue, which is a creation using various pork products (in honor of the lifelong friendly feud between police and fire), and Chicken Bacon Ranch, which has chicken, bacon, and jalapeno ranch. Feeling adventurous? Try South of the Red River with refried beans and chorizo, or the All-American with ketchup, mustard, hamburger, bacon, and more. It’s basically a cheeseburger on pizza dough! Cauliflower crust is also an option for all pizzas.

There are also a few sandwiches on the menu, including Meatball, Italian sub, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Chicken Bacon Ranch. Or if you’re feeling the need to be healthy, try a Caprese or Chicken Caesar salad. The ranch dressing is homemade, and it’s fabulous.

I’ve also been told about the pepperoni bread appetizer, and it sounds like something I definitely need to try….tomorrow, when they open! It has pepperoni, jalapenos, and Mike’s Hot Honey. I’m drooling on my keyboard now.

If you’re thirsty, grab a fountain drink (Pepsi products) in a blue Oklahoma Pizza Company cup. There are also four beer taps. Currently in stock are Fat Toad, Karbach, Mango Cart, and Michelob Ultra. Wine is coming in the near future.

As always, the Hayes family looks forward to giving back to the community. In May, $1 from each Back the Blue sold will be donated to Special Olympics in honor of National Police Week. Fire Prevention Week is in October, so $1 of each Thin Red Line will be donated to Hydrants of Hope and Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp. To honor our armed forces in November, $1 from each All American will be donated to Blue Star Mothers. And you can save $1 off each South of the Red River on every Taco Tuesday!

Oklahoma Pizza Company has hired 12 local employees, and they hired Blue Arc Metal Specialties to create all of the metal railings in the shop. MST Manufacturing is also creating parts to improve the speed of pizza cooking. They’re off to a great start in staying local whenever possible.

Oklahoma Pizza Company is located at 408 W. Will Rogers Blvd. in historic downtown Claremore, right next door to Anvil Axe Company. They will be open Monday – Saturday from 11a – 9p and Sunday from 11a – 8p. Follow Oklahoma Pizza Company on facebook for updates!

As with any new business, especially a restaurant, and especially with the current way of the world, we ask for grace and kindness as they begin the journey to serve Claremore with delicious, FAST pizza! Eat local, Claremore!
