Claremore Main Street Seeking New Executive Director

The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the non-profit 501(c)3 downtown association in Claremore, OK, interacting with municipal staff, elected and appointed officials, government agencies, police and fire, Chambers of Commerce, Tourism and Convention authorities, neighborhood associations, community committees, local businesses, social services agencies and various task forces in the pursuit of a thriving downtown district.

The primary function of the Executive Director is to give direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives; to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization; and with the Board President, enable the Board to fulfill its governance function.

Job Functions: Board Administration and Support – Supports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members and interfacing between Board and staff.

Strategic Planning – Leads the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives with the Board of Directors and staff, as well as develops and implements the policies and procedures for Claremore Main Street (CMS) operations; implements actions and established milestones to which CMS actions can be measured.

Revenue Development – Initiates, explores and expands innovative revenue opportunities, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, writing and submitting proposals and grants, and administering fundraising records and documents.

Downtown Economic Development – Plans and implements economic development strategies in partnership with stakeholders that strengthens, manages and updates a database of all downtown properties, businesses, and owners, attracts and expands business opportunities within the geographic boundaries of the historic Main Street, the newly created Lilac District and the overall special downtown district as identified in Claremore’s Comprehensive Plan.

Organization Programs, Products and Service Delivery – Oversees the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of all programs, products and services. Actively works to further establish a dynamic network to expand program services, including a robust and engaged membership program.

Marketing and Public Relations – Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive images to relevant stakeholders. Maintains effective working relationships with community partners and represents CMS and downtown Claremore to the public and the media. Serve as the main advocate and be the face of the organization to the community.

Financial and General Administration – Develops and manages the organization’s budget; directs the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment materials, and supplies; directs the monitoring of and approve expenditures; ensures the organization is in compliance with all federal, state and local law.

Human Resource Management – Handles all aspects of human resource management, including hiring and termination, the development of position descriptions, setting compensation, applying board-approved employee policies and benefits in accordance with federal and state requirements; directly supervises staff. Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse quality group of staff and volunteers.

Preferred knowledge, skill sets and abilities

  • At least 3+ years in non-profit management experience with preference for management of a downtown association, with strong working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and financial and Board management for a 501(c)
  • Industry experience in economic development, with preferable focus in downtown development
  • Ability to communicate and positively engage with downtown stakeholders
  • Excellent writing, speaking and presentation skills
  • The ability to analyze and interpret government policies, ordinances and code (and other technical information) and effectively communicate those items to a broad audience
  • Good planning and organizational skills

Executive Director Reports To: Claremore Main Street Executive Board/Board President FLSA Status: Exempt/Full Time Compensation: $57,000 – $67,000 – also includes comprehensive benefit package
