RSU Soccer Adds to Coaching Staff

Rogers State Head Women’s Soccer Coach Chris Jones announced the addition of Elliot Cockrum as an assistant coach to round out his staff for the 2022 season.

“I’m excited to have Elliott join our staff,” said Jones. “His passion for the game of soccer is what made him stand out. He is someone that will bring great energy and knowledge to our staff and a different way of looking at the game.”

Cockrum comes to the Hill from Southwestern College in Kansas after serving as the assistant men’s soccer coach. With the Moundbuilders, Cockrum oversaw recruiting and the day-to-day operations of the program. He also served as the head coach of the reserve team.

Prior to SC, Cockrum was an assistant coach with the men’s soccer program at Oklahoma Baptist. With the Bison, he was responsible for running team warm ups as well as strength and conditioning training. He also assisted with in-game tactics and coached technical skills.

Cockrum began his coaching career at Choctaw High School as an assistant coach. He oversaw the creation of practice and game plans, setting starting lineups, managing in-game substitutions, technical and tactical skills training and organizing scouting reports and film analysis. He also managed the program’s summer camps.

As a player, Cockrum was a place kicker at Arkansas State, Central Oklahoma and Globe Institute of Technology. He also played club soccer for MWC 94 and Real Cuervo.

Cockrum is currently working towards his Master’s degree from Southwestern College and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University.
