Remembering Paul Edward “Eddie” Barnes

Funeral service for Paul “Eddie” Barnes, Jr., will be 10:00a.m.,  Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Friendly Foyil Baptist Church, burial will follow at Ward’s Grove Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, from 2pm-8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm.  Eddie passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023.  He was 80.

Born April 10, 1942 in Pierce City, Missouri City, Missouri, to Paul Edward and Rosa Frances (Kritz) Barnes, with a move to Miami, Oklahoma, Eddie attended schools in Miami, graduating with the class of 1960.  On September 4, of this same year he married Charlotte Ann Kempel and the couple made their home Miami.  He enlisted with the Air Force and served his country for four years.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Oklahoma and the family lived for a time in Fairland, before moving to Foyil, and this has been home since.

Eddie was a hard worker and worked as a mechanic with Rockwell, and later Boeing, retiring after 35 years of faithful service.  When he wasn’t hard at work, he enjoyed fishing and tractor collecting.  He and Charlotte loved going to estate sales, where they were always on the lookout for that certain treasure.  His priority was family and he loved following his grandchildren around to their games and concerts.  Eddie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and followed their games.  He loved the Lord was committed to his church, Friendly Foyil Baptist.  Eddie even donated the land that the church sits on.  Some of his spiritual words were “Praise God”, and “It’s Ok”.  One of the scriptures he lived by was Proverbs 16:9, A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

Those family members that survive include his wife, Charlotte Barnes; his children Tammie Wells, Michael Barnes and wife Connie, and Regina Kallenberger and husband Don; grandchildren Jamie Cobb, Matt Wells, Jeremy Wells, Mark Wells, Heather Petros, Hailee Deaver, Cody Barnes, Garrett Bell, Amanda Kallenberger, Kendra Kallenberger, Kallene Brewer, Radley Caffey, Randi Berryman, Adam Kallenberger, and Kaygan Kallenberger; and numerous great grandchildren; his sisters Margie Wagner and husband Jim and Shirley Casteel and husband Tommy; his brothers-in-law Ray Kempel and wife Debbie and Charles Kempel and wife Linda.  Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rosa Barnes and his son-in-law Donnie Wells.
