The Dolls Are Back!

During the month of June, little people will start appearing in the windows of area businesses and various locations around Claremore and Rogers County.  Who are they and why are they making an appearance?

They are part of CASA’s 2nd Annual Cherish The Children Paper Doll Project fundraiser.  Area businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals agree to sponsor, “foster,” name and dress up a doll(s) in the cutest attire they can find.  A paper doll is a wooden cutout of a small child, size 3T to 4T.  The dolls are then displayed in businesses or a public location during the month of June.

The Paper Doll Project is both an awareness and fundraising project.  By participating and displaying the dolls sponsors bring awareness to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect and find themselves in foster care.  Also, it raises needed financial support so CASA of Northeast Oklahoma can continue to make sure a qualified, compassionate adult will be there to fight for and protect a child’s right to be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family.

The results of the event don’t end at the end of the month.  All clothing, shoes, and other items with the dolls will be distributed to children living in foster care.

“We are looking for businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals who want to participate in this fun event.  We have four sponsorship levels, from Gold to Silver to Bronze to Individual.  We have tried to include levels so no matter the size of the business or organization, or if it is an individual, there is a level where everyone can participate.  No matter the level selected, participation in the event helps ensure that a CASA of Northeast Oklahoma volunteer advocate can be there for an abused and neglected child living in foster care,” said Mark Ogle, CASA of Northeast Oklahoma.

Sponsorship Levels:

·         * Gold Sponsor – $1,000 (Sponsor receives four dolls and their name/logo appears on             promotional information.)

·         * Silver Sponsor – $500 (Sponsor receives three dolls and their name/logo appears promotional information.)

·         * Bronze Sponsor – $300 (Sponsor receives two dolls and their name appears on promotional information.)

·         * Individual Sponsor – $100 (Sponsor receives one doll and their name appears on promotional information.)

“To those sponsors who have already signed up, many for the 2nd year, thank you!  To those who would like to sign up or want more information, please contact me at (918) 694-2510 or mark@casaneok.org.  I look forward to hearing from everyone,” said Ogle.

Once signed up, the doll(s) will be delivered to you the last week of May.  You display them during the month of June.  They are then picked up at the end of June.  A King and Queen will be selected.

While the dolls are displayed and visible for a month, the impact from their appearance leaves a lasting reminder all year long and helps Change a Child’s Story.
