Who Are These New Little Residents In Claremore?

Who are those little people starting to appear in the windows of area businesses and various locations around Claremore and Rogers County?

They are part of the 2nd Annual CASA Cherish The Children Paper Doll Project fundraiser.  During the month of June area businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals in Claremore and Rogers County have agreed to sponsor “foster,” name and dress up a wooden cutout of a small child, size 3T to 4T.  The dolls are dressed in cute attire and displayed during the month.   At the end of the month, a King and Queen will be selected and all clothing, shoes, and other items with the dolls will be distributed to children living in foster care through CASA and area clothing closets.

“This is both as an awareness and fundraising project.  By participating and displaying the dolls it brings awareness of the plight of children who have been removed from their homes and find themselves in foster care.  It also raises needed financial support so CASA of Northeast Oklahoma can continue to make sure a qualified, compassionate adult will be there to fight for and protect a child’s right to be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family”, said Mark Ogle, CASA of Northeast Oklahoma.

Sponsors participating include:  Gold Sponsors: CF Industries, Pediatric Practitioners of Oklahoma; Silver Sponsors: BancFirst, Claremore Assembly of God Church, Jack Kissee Ford, Juniper Salon, Pafford EMS, Rescue Heat & Air; Bronze Sponsors: C&A Roofing and Construction, Carol’s Place Hair and Nail Salon, Cedar Point Church, Claremore First Methodist Church, Claremore Progress, Red Crown Credit Union, Starlight Trailer Sales; Individual Sponsors: Advanced Vision Center, Carol Pope, Dots Café, El Aztec Mexican Restaurant, Froman Propane, Front Porch Bakery, Hillcrest Hospital Claremore, RCB Bank, Rice Funeral Services, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, Spectrum Paint, Sine Cera Style Shop, The Burrows Agency, The District On Main, The Men’s Shop, The Page Family, TTCU Federal Credit Union.

Are you thinking, “I wish I could join in and participate?”  It’s not too late.  The project lasts the entire month of June.  If you would like to participate in the event or receive more information regarding CASA of Northeast Oklahoma and volunteering opportunities, please contact Mark Ogle at (918) 694-2510 or mark@casaneok.org
