Claremore Honored for Economic Development Initiatives

Each year, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) recognizes the world’s best economic development programs, marketing materials, initiatives and leaders through its Excellence in Economic Development Awards. Claremore Economic Development and the City of Claremore were honored in three award categories. The recognitions were presented Tuesday evening at an awards celebration during the IEDC Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas.

Claremore’s honors included:

  • Gold Rank – Connect Claremore Small Business Program
  • Silver Rank – Claremore Economic Development Business Retention – Blue Arc Expansion
  • Bronze Rank – City of Claremore Housing Development Initiatives

“Marking its 75th year, Claremore Economic Development recognizes the pivotal role economic advances play in fortifying a community’s foundation. We believe in a comprehensive approach that harnesses proven strategies of the past, while blending them with modern, innovative approaches to address new age challenges,” emphasized Executive Director Meggie Froman-Knight. “The progress our community has achieved serves as a clear testament to our commitment to bridging the past and future, positioning Claremore for sustained growth and enduring success.”

IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards have 25 award categories to honor organizations and individuals for creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers following a nomination process held earlier this year. IEDC received nearly 600 submissions from 150 organizations across seven countries.

“Ensuring affordable, accessible housing for all is a key objective for the City of Claremore,” said Claremore City Manager John Feary. “Our Community Development team is truly at the forefront of housing development, pioneering new initiatives, such as pattern zoning. The intent of these architecturally designed offerings is to provide a pre-permitted quick-start tool that can be easily implemented whether you are a local citizen looking to invest in property or a national scale developer.”
