Rogers County Health Department to Host Third Annual ShamROCKIN’ Family Fun Day

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers County Health Department will hold its third annual ShamROCKIN’ Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The event will take place at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N Sioux, Claremore, OK 74017 and is free and open to the public. 

The event will provide information and resources from the Rogers County Health Department and community partners, for all ages. Everyone attending ShamROCKIN’ Family Fun Day can enter a drawing to win door prizes.

Free car seat checks will be offered during the event and car seats will be available for qualified applicants, while seats last. Appointments are not required but can be made with Chrissy Swift by calling 918-341-3166. Those unable to attend can visit www.safekids.org for additional resources on car seat safety.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be onsite for blood donations. Donors can go to OBI.org to start scheduling appointments. All donors will receive a “Lotto Pot O’ Gold” scratcher and could win a $100 or $200 Visa Gift Card or other fun prizes. 

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics will also be at the event collecting unneeded prescription medications. Whether it is unused or expired, it’s important for prescription medications to be disposed and destroyed safely. 

If you are unable to come to the event, please visit other drug disposal sites in the county. Drug Take Back boxes in Claremore are located at the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, 114 S Missouri Ave, Claremore, OK 74017 and the RSU Campus Police Office, 1701 W Will Rogers Blvd, Claremore, OK 74017. 

Members of the Drug Reduction Outreach Project (DROP) will provide Narcan training and free Narcan.

Partners for the event include CARD Head Start, Safenet, Multi-County Coalition, Cherokee Nation Public Health, Foundations Behavioral Health, Light of Hope, Rogers County Volunteers for Youth, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Rogers County Conservation, District and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, local first responders along with others.
