“It was a dark and stormy night. The cold December wind was blowing down Will Rogers Blvd as the Pecks prepared to welcome their firstborn into the world. It would be a long 16 hours at Claremore Regional before I made my first appearance upon this Earth.”
Dramatics aside, I was born and raised in Claremore and couldn’t be happier about it. Fast forward three decades and here I am working for MoreClaremore.com. My primary function is bringing in advertisers and expand visits to the most comprehensive local website around. (They might even let me write a story or two.)
Here is a little bit of my history.
I grew up in the shadows of the Stillwater Milling grain tower. My first basketball was played in the old armory. I cast my first line into Claremore Lake during the annual fishing derby. I am a graduate of Claremore High School and after a brief moment in Stillwater found my way home and finished my communications degree at Rogers State University.
In high school I began my love affair with writing. Working for both the newspaper and yearbook I began taking photos and writing stories about the people around me. I covered local athletics for the newspaper and found my groove with RSU Radio. I created radio spots and even won an award or two during my time in school.
My day job puts me far behind the scenes in the communications world. I have worked in satellite and fiber bookings for the last eight years. We deal with domestic and international broadcasters and bring television from around the world right into your living rooms.
I currently live with my wife and son in Claremore. I enjoy singing and recently took up playing guitar. If you frequent the rec center you might just see us there playing some basketball or pretending to lift weights.
We are excited about the new opportunities for growth in Claremore and the positive influence MoreClaremore.com is having on our hometown. As I begin this new chapter in my life I can’t wait to visit with you and not only help highlight your businesses but share them with the world!
Claremore has given me so much over the years. I can’t wait to give something back.
