Graham Curtsinger is a 11-year-old 5th-grader at Verdigris. He loves airplanes and airports, maps, playing the piano, hurricanes, and of course, Minecraft. His favorite subject is geography. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and his siblings, Reagan, Reese and Dax.
He’s also in the running to be Lifetime’s Child Genius.
Graham was selected to participate in the Lifetime series, which pits 20 certified genius children against each other in the quest for the title and a $100,000 college scholarship. Graham is one of four contestants remaining.
At the age of 5, Graham tested in top .1 percentile. Because of that test, Graham was accepted into the Davidson’s Young Scholars program. He’s a serious contender for the role of Child Genius because he has an uncanny capability to remember a wide assortment of facts from a variety of subjects. He’s also got a spunky, outgoing personality, which makes him a favorite player.
“Lifetime’s all-new competition series “Child Genius” (#ChildGenius) centers on America’s most extraordinary and gifted children and their families as they prepare for a national intelligence competition. In cooperation with American Mensa, the competition takes place over eight weeks and tests the nation’s brightest young minds on their knowledge of Math, Spelling, Geography, Memory, the Human Body, U.S. Presidents, Vocabulary, Current Events, Zoology, Astronomy and Space, Inventions, Literature and the Arts, Earth Science and Logic.
There’s been a good amount of time in the spotlight for Graham; he’s been on the News on 6, KJRH and in the Tulsa World and inTouch magazine. He’s not a huge fan of interviews, but he realizes they are part of the territory. And while he had a great time taping the show and making new friends, he’s happy to be back home in Oklahoma.
Graham’s parents, Tracy and Brian, would like to invite friends, family and the community to a watch party for the show’s finale on Tuesday, February 24, from 8 – 10p. The showing will be held at Cedar Point Church, 1600 N. Lynn Riggs in Claremore. Pizza, cake and drinks will be provided.
