This month’s books are a bit sweet and a bit silly! For young readers we recommend Will You Be My Valenswine? by Teresa Bateman with adorable illustrations by Kristina Stephenson. Little Piggy Polly wants a “valenswine” on Valentine’s Day. She asks all of the barnyard animals, the roses on the fence and the sparrows in the sky but no one seems to need a valenswine! This book is told in rhyme and ends with a sweet surprise. Little ones will love this silly and sweet story. Will You Be My Valenswine can be found in the Early Reader section of the Will Rogers Library.
For The Love Of Autumn by Patricia Polacco is a wonderful story of that special love between pet and animal lover. Autumn is a kitten that is adored by her pet parent, Danielle. Together through many life changes Danielle is beside herself when Autumn disappears one stormy night. Will Danielle find Autumn? Will Autumn return safely? This book ends with a sweet surprise just right for Valentine’s Day! For The Love Of Autumn can be found in the Early Reader section of the library.
And from the silly story department we bring you The Snow Day From The Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler. Along with the other “Black Lagoon” books this is a fun story to read in these wintery days! Written in a modified comic-book style this story is sure to bring smiles! It includes a page with “snow day” jokes:
”What’s the coldest country?”
“Chile!”
There’s more where that came from in the juvenile section of the Will Rogers Library.
