Stuart Roosa was a graduate of Claremore High School and became a pioneer of early space exploration. In celebration of the 45th anniversary of Apollo 14, the Claremore Museum of History honors Roosa with a permanent exhibit that includes three artifacts from the lunar mission that have been loaned to the museum by the Roosa family.
You are invited to join us at the Will Rogers Memorial Theatre on Saturday, March 5, at 1:30p. The speaker is Bill Moore, an award-winning author who has written numerous historical journals and magazine articles on the space program. He wrote the book and produced the OETA seven-part series titled Oklahoma and Space.
Spending a decade with the Oklahoma Historical Society, Moore was part of the group responsible for the opening of the Oklahoma History Center in 2005. His Oklahomans and Space book and video will be available for purchase and signing at the museum the day of the event.
Following the program at the Will Rogers Memorial, everyone is invited to join in the unveiling of the Stuart Roosa Exhibit at the Claremore Museum of History at 3:00 p.m. located at 121 N. Weenonah Avenue in Gazebo Park for a reception and Apollo 14 NASA film.
