Rogers County Farmers Market returns Saturday

Claremore, OK — The Rogers County Farmers Market is set to kickoff May 4, 2024 from 7:00AM
until 11:00AM at the Rogers County Courthouse parking lot located at 200 South Lynn Riggs.

Contributors include local farmers, bakers, and crafters.

Reighly Hendrix, Rogers County Nutrition Director said this is a great time to visit various
vendor’s booths for items of interest.

“This is our fifth year to accept S.N.A.P at the Rogers County Farmers Market and since then we
have added other nutritional programs,” said Hendrix. Other programs include Double Up
Oklahoma (DUO) and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

Additionally, “The DUO program allows S.N.A.P. customers to match up to $20 to their S.N.A.P.
to buy fresh produce, which I feel is a win-win situation for everyone,” she said.

Hendrix said they are currently signing up seniors for the SFMNP – a program for seniors who
fall in a certain income bracket. For qualifying seniors, they will receive $50 to spend at the
market to purchase fresh produce, fresh cut herbs, and honey.

Lizeth Thorton, Rogers County Farmers Market manager said, “I am excited to serve our
community so that Rogers County citizens can have access to fresh, local products.”

In May expect to find leafy greens that include but are not limited to microgreens, mushrooms,
lettuce, kale, spinach, cabbage, Bok choy, and Swiss chard, plus plants, eggs, meats, honey,
jams and jellies, baked goods, goats milk lotion/soaps, and handmade craft items.

At the end of May expect to find strawberries until the end of June. Tomatoes slowly start to
come into season as well as does cucumbers squash, zucchini, okra, watermelon, cantaloupe,
and corn.

The Farmers Market also has other activities and events planned throughout the year. The first
event will be a Mother Day’s raffle, in which tickets will go on sale May 4 th and the winner
drawn on May 11. On May 18 th this will be Kids Day when there will be several activities for
children as well as live entertainment.
