Rogers County Sheriff Starts Food Bank: Let’s Help!

armoire

The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office is at it again! They have identified a serious issue in which many local children are reduced to barely receiving one meal per day. In some extreme cases, kids are going to bed hungry. They are asking for everyone’s support in providing an opportunity for these kids and their families to receive more frequently balanced and nourished meals.

After obtaining this idea from a television news story, our Rogers County Sheriff’s Office would like the community’s assistance in developing a strategic Food Pantry Program. The goal is to start out by placing an “armoire” inside the public lobby of the Amos G. Ward Detention Facility (that’s the jail on Patti Page), fully stocked with non-perishable food items, which will be available to needy or underprivileged families, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! The goal is to have the program well established before the quickly approaching Thanksgiving holiday season arrives.

To initiate the campaign, they are actively looking for several new or slightly used “armoires”, which can be placed in the Detention Facility lobby, followed up by positioning additionally donated armoires in similar community outsourcing locations throughout Rogers County. The success of the program will require the public’s support in continually managing their respective Food Bank, by constantly donating canned and packaged food items for our less fortunate neighbors.

If you have access to an armoire, please contact Major Coy Jenkins by telephoning 918-923-4477, to coordinate delivery options.
