Claremore Runners Partner with Pryor

Spring RoCo Fit participants will celebrate the finish of their 12 week program with MaCo Fit in Pryor for the Mayes county Hope Fit Kids 5k, Saturday, June 3rd. This will be the goal event and the first time many of our Couch to 5k program participants have finished 3.1 miles in a race. They have prepared these past weeks and persevered through challenges improving their health each step. The mentors are excited to walk and run beside their group participants and encourage them across the finish line marking a milestone and creating an unforgettable memory with them.

The Hope Fit Kids race is sponsored by Cherokee Nation Wings Program and has a 5k, 10k, and Fun Run (1 mile) all starting and ending at Rogers State University in Pryor. The Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 5k & 10k at 8:00 a.m. and a giant waterslide will available for all race participants. Registration begins at 6:00 a.m. at RSU in Pryor.

RoCo Fit is proud to join MaCo Fit, a program several of the RoCo Fit mentors helped get started. They are both free Couch to 5k program open to anyone 13 yrs. and over who want to have fun getting healthier. The same program is offered in Washington (FLOWCo) and Osage (LoCo Fit) counties and all were assisted by RoCo Fit to begin. Each county health department assists with providing coordinators, mentors, program shirts, and/or other items needed since the programs greatly contribute to improving community health outcomes.

For information or questions on how to join this free program, please contact RoCo Fit Coordinator, Renetta Harrison, at renettah@health.ok.gov or 918-341-3166.
