Claremore Man Drafted for MLB

Claremore’s own Matt Whatley, who’s currently an Oral Roberts junior playing catcher for the Golden Eagles, has been drafted by the Texas Rangers ball club. Whatley was chosen in the third round of the MLB Draft. He will forego his senior year at ORU to play professionally.

As a junior, Whatley threw out 43-percent of potential base stealers and had a perfect fielding percentage. At the plate, he posted a .302 batting average with 11 home runs, 11 doubles and 49 RBI.

Whatley is also a finalist for the prestigious Johnny Bench Award. Learn more HERE!

Congratulations, Whatley! Claremore is proud of you!
