Claremore Pub Receives Irish Blessing

J Farley’s Pub, located in The Cornerstone Building, isn’t yet open for business. But they’re prepared to handle anything now that the pub has been blessed by a Bishop.

On October 31, which was originally the Celtic New Year’s Eve, J Farley’s was visited by His Lordship William C. Wantland of the Diocese of Fort Worth.

The Bishop visited each area of the restaurant and performed a special prayer. The blessing, or “hallowing”, brings the protection of God. The ceremony ended with a prayer in Scottish Gaelic. Also, the Tulsa chapter of the Irish-American Club presented the Farley family with a Certificate of Honor.

The event was attended by several members of Jason Farley’s family, including his wife, brother, and mother.

Owners Chris Hayes and James Franklin are opening the restaurant as a tribute to Jason Farley, a Claremore firefighter who gave the ultimate sacrifice in May 2015. The pub will feature a selection of beers, gourmet burgers, and menu items from “across the pond” as a nod to Farley’s strong Irish heritage.

No official opening date has been set, but tentative plans call for a late December opening.
