News ‘Christmas Brain’ is a Real Thing, and It’s Happening Now December 19, 2017 So there’s a company called Peakon that surveyed more than 2,000 workers and decided that December 18 is the day that more than half of American workers decided that Christmas celebrating starts NOW. Secret Santa and office parties are to blame, said 19% of workers. 30% said they spent their workdays planning Christmas break activities and 35% are planning Christmas Day. Sick days increase around Christmas, as 4% of workers admitted to calling in sick when they weren’t. 12% said they take ridiculously long lunches during the week leading up to Christmas. Amazon is getting a bump in sales, as 42% of employees admitted to online Christmas shopping while on the clock. Hey, even with Prime, there’s a deadline, so cut us some slack. Christmas office parties abound this time of year, yet it’s only 16% who are drinking alcohol on the job.Bottom line is, Christmas brain is here, and most of America has checked out mentally.
