Happy 2018! This cold weather is a perfect time to visit the Will Rogers Library for a stack of good books. This month our youngest readers might enjoy reading some ‘Winter’ books. Elmer In The Snow by David McKee is one of the much loved series of books about Elmer the patchwork elephant. In this book, Elmer introduces his elephant friends to silly snow games. This is such a fun little story to read aloud on a cold day!
Did you know that of all the seasons in the year, winter is the warmest? Well according to Winter Is The Warmest Season by Lauren Stringer, winter is a time of wonders such as cats sitting on laps, fires in fireplaces and cold milk turning into hot chocolate. This book has lovely illustrations and would make a great book to enjoy snuggling with your favorite young reader.
Both of these books can be found in the Early Reader Section of the Will Rogers Library.
For older readers who like chapter books, the Wild Rescue series might be a fun winter read. In Avalanche Alert by J.Burchett and S. Vogler, a snow leopard and her cub are separated from their territory after a Himalayan avalanche. Forced to hunt sheep to survive, the locals make plans to protect their livestock by poisoning the leopard. Now Ben and Zoe must brave the slopes to guide the lost cats to safety. Avalanche Alert can be found in the Juvenile Section of the Will Rogers Library.
