Be a Literacy Tutor in Claremore!

The Rogers County Literacy Council does some great things in our community. Based in the Will Rogers Library, the hardworking volunteers teach those 16 and older who need to learn to read. They also do a lot of work for ESL students.

If you would like to be part of changing someone’s life with literacy, give them a call and sign up to be a tutor! The next session of Tutor Training will be held on Saturday, April 7. Registration is required, so please call 918-277-4331 to reserve your space. The training session is nine hours and lunch is provided. Anyone 18 and over is eligible to attend. The fee is $35, which covers the cost of insurance and materials.

Tutors generally help weekly for one hour plus prep time; ideally tutors commit to one year. But shorter time frames are often the case, too.

Tutoring takes place in a public place, such as the library, on campus, or a coffee shop, as long as it’s public and convenient to both tutor and learner.
