Vance and Cade Hunter are tucked into their sleeping bags in the Will Rogers Memorial Museum Heritage Gallery, anticipating a night of excitement (and maybe a little sleep) at Museum on May 25. Children will be settled in throughout the Museum for a “night at the Chuck Wagon.”
Pack your sleeping bag, pajamas, toothbrush and toothpaste and spend the “Night at the Chuck Wagon,” May 25, for the newest Will Rogers Memorial Museum event, a sleepover in the Museum.
A night of family fun for ages 5-12 (accompanied by at least one adult), begins at 6 p.m. Saturday and continues through 9 a.m. Sunday. “It is an opportunity for a unique family get-to-gather in a kid-friendly setting,” said Tad Jones, Will Rogers Memorial Museum executive director.
Participants will bed down in various parts of the Museum for a night of 19th Century activities, movies, arts and crafts, games, storytelling, and a chuck wagon dinner and breakfast.
Movies, including the hilariously funny “Ambassador Bill,” starring Will Rogers as an ambassador appointed to Sylvania, will be showing.
Registration is required and is $45 for non-members and $35 for members (both child and adults are required to pay registration fee). Space is limited to the first 15 children. In addition to the evening meal, snacks and breakfast, each child will receive a Will Rogers’ book and each child and parent will receive a t-shirt.
