Interactive, international street artist Kelsey Montague will create a mural for Spectrum Paint, 500 W. Will Rogers Blvd, in historic Claremore Main Street, Oklahoma.
Kelsey started her #WhatLiftsYou movement in Manhattan six years ago with large-scale murals of her iconic wings. Celebrities including Kendal Jenner, Vanessa Hudgins and Jessica Biel have posed with Kelsey’s work, while media outlets like The New York Times, Forbes and The Washington Post have featured her work. Last year Taylor Swift commissioned Kelsey to create a winged mural to help launch her ‘ME!’ single in Nashville. Early this year the NFL chose Kelsey, the only female artist chosen, to create pieces for the Super Bowl in Miami.
Montague will be working on the piece this Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 PM, May 27, at 500 W Will Rogers Blvd, Claremore, OK 74017. If you would like to interview Kelsey or get a picture, please feel free to come down, we just ask you wear a mask and maintain an 8 ft social distance.
“We really wanted something that would inspire people, not only from Claremore, but from the surrounding areas and beyond to come and physically visit our Main Street which we are so proud to be a part of,” said Gentry Stafford, Vice President of Marketing at Spectrum and Claremore resident.
Spectrum Paint is the largest independently owned paint dealer in the United States with 80 paint stores in 8 states and over 450 employees. Owners Travis Detter, John Detter and Roddy Russo are Claremore residents (Travis and Roddy are CHS grads). What makes shopping at Spectrum Paint different than its competitors? Being independently owned allows us to have the broadest offering of products & supplies of any nationally owned paint store or home center. Spectrum carries Benjamin Moore Paints, PPG Paints, Rustoleum, Wooster, Graco, our own brand Spec-Pro and Spec-one, in addition to several others. Shopping at a paint store versus a big box store means that you are dealing with employees that have made paint their career and work in paint every single day. Being Claremore-owned has also impacted our desire to be a strong partner for our community. Spectrum has over 20 employees that live in Claremore and serve in the community.
