Sophomore standout Emma Kelley loves the game of soccer. She plays both competitive and high school soccer for Claremore High School. Her devotion to the sport is a big reason her teammates love having her on the team. Kelley said her teammates motivate her every game.

“I love how our team builds each other up and motivates one another to become a better team than we were the year before. I can always count on my teammates to be there for me when I’m down,” said Kelley. “I am honored to represent a school that has produced so many successful athletes, I am also honored to represent all of the wonderful educators who have helped me achieve my goals academically.”

Away from soccer, Kelley is involved in other clubs at school and enjoys her favorite subject, History.

“Other than being committed to soccer I am involved in my school’s Student Council and our Fuze organization (freshman utilizing zebra experience), which helps introduce incoming freshmen to the high school environment,” said Kelley. “My favorite subject is History because I love learning about how our past has shaped our present and how it will affect our future. My favorite teacher is Coach Jahn. I always know if there’s anything I need, I can count on him to help me wherever I need it.”

Online school has been an adjustment for Kelley, but it’s given her the opportunity to work on her soccer skills.

“School being online was a big change for me, but with all the extra time on my hands it gave me time to work on soccer and become a better player. Before school being online it was hard to find the time to put in the extra work but now all I have is time,” said Kelley.

Kelley has big plans for her future, but first she is ready to get back on the field and play the sport she loves.

“After graduation I hope to have been offered a soccer scholarship and to play while being on track to become a physical therapist,” said Kelley. “I would like to thank all of my classmates who have inspired me and helped me along my journey. I would also like to give a ‘thank you’ to my parents and grandparents; they have all given me everything I need to succeed in life and in soccer, I could never want for more in life.”
