The Claremore City Council has appointed John Feary as Acting City Manager, following the resignation of City Manager Jim Thomas.
“We are grateful to have the service and dedication of John Feary throughout this process,” said Claremore Mayor Bill Flanagan. “John has been a tireless advocate for Claremore through his leadership at the Claremore Industrial & Economic Development Authority for the last three years.”
To ensure a smooth transition, Feary will serve as Acting City Manager while the search for a permanent replacement is conducted. He has more than 17 years of experience in the public sector working on behalf of local governments at various city and county levels. As executive director of the Claremore Industrial & Economic Development Authority (CIEDA) since 2017, Feary is experienced in senior-management municipal leadership.
“John brings a great deal of experience in development and support of municipal objectives, particularly in the areas of budget development, infrastructure planning, and economic and workforce development,” Flanagan added.
As acting city manager, Feary will assume the managerial and fiduciary responsibilities of the City Manager role during the interim. He will continue to serve in his role as CIEDA executive director and work with department leaders to deliver on City of Claremore objectives. The Claremore Human Resources department will work with the City Council to begin a search for a permanent replacement.
