Say Hello to Spring with the Master Gardeners Butterfly!

What is a garden without a butterfly? What if this garden had a butterfly you could take a picture with?

As spring has arrived (some days it doesn’t seem like it, but it WILL be nice soon!), it’s a great time to visit the Teaching Gardens in Will Rogers Park, located on Camden near the splash pad. The gardens are maintained by Master Gardeners of Rogers County, and their newest achievement is a beautiful butterfly painting! The work was done by one of the Master Gardeners, Linda Callery.

Linda has been a Master Gardener since 2007 and has helped with many projects and events. In addition, she spent an extra 15 hours of her own time creating this beautiful butterfly, which is located on the back of the red storage building.

Linda inherits her great talent from her famous father, Willard Stone, an American artist best known for his wood sculptures carved in a flowing Art Deco style. Linda has two brothers who also sport this talent; Jason does wood sculpturing and Dwight does metal sculpture and silversmithing.

Come take a picture with the butterfly or sit on one of the lovely benches and just enjoy it!
